The acclaimed ‘one-man-band’ Uptown Brown will be performing at The Romsey Lancefield Historical Society’s Father’s Day Family Fair at Seymour Cottage.

Brown is a man who has worn many hats in his colourful life. He claims occupations such as inventor, musician, aviator and adventurer, to name but a few.

Without a doubt his crowning glory is the patented ‘Goodtimes Gyrotorscope’ – a musical instrument that enables him to play multiple instruments at once.

His repertoire is described as “a primitive mix of 1920s and 1930s jazz and blues”, which he has taken to street corners across five continents.

The Father’s Day fair will be held at Seymour Cottage, 20 Palmer Street, Romsey, on Sunday September 4. Gates open at 10am and entry is by gold coin donation.

The historical society is also welcoming Neighbourhood Houses and community groups to talk about themselves.

This family fair will include talks by two heritage professionals who contributed their knowledge of the cottage and the garden to the recently completed Conservation Management Plan.

The historical society will be selling their latest publications Benloch: A Journey Through Time and Snapshots In Time: images of Lancefield, Romsey and surrounding villages.

Food and wine, sandwiches, scones, tea and coffee can be purchased. There will also be face-painting and pass the parcel for children. Plants will be available for sale too.
