Parade is back

2022 Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival Queen Eva Thieu and King Mark James.

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival grand parade and fair will return this Sunday September 11.

The parade will be huge with floats, bands, walking groups, decorated cycles and special vehicles including.

Special attractions will include the Wadaiko Rindoo Japanese drummers and the Central Victorian Lion Dancers who will also perform at the fair.

The parade starts at 12.30pm and traverses Mollison Street from Piper Street to Simpson Street.

The location of the post-parade fair has changed. It will be in the grounds of the Old Kyneton Primary School with entry from Baynton Street.

All of the favourites will be there including Farmer Darryl and his animal nursery, the kids activities, a climber wall, food, drink and cake stalls, stilt walkers Ned and Nellie and unicyclist and juggler, Red Mo the Pirate.

The festival got off to a great start at a well-attended Grand Opening last Thursday evening with the crowning of the festival royals King Mark James, owner of Donkey in High Street, and Queen Eva Thieu from Animus in Piper Street.

Also meeting the community were the princesses and princes this year, Princesses Mabel and Molly and Prince Alfie and Miles.

Art and photography prize winner were announced at the opening. They were Jenny Chester Daffodil Art Prize, Anna McGrath the Esther Rose Memorial Watercolour Prize and Gina Auceillo the Art Photography Prize.

The Midland Express Leo Ramsdale Window Dressing award was awarded to The Kindness Collective, with other awards to Hunters Motor and Mowers and The Old Auction House.

Festival activities continue throughout this week with open gardens being the special feature during the week and performances, art exhibitions and markets on Saturday and Sunday culminating in Sunday’s Grand Parade and Fair.
