Joint leaders for Hawks

Anne-Louise Lindner and Paul Podbury are the newly elected joint presidents of Woodend-Hesket Football Netball Club.

Anne-Louise Lindner and Paul Podbury are the newly elected joint presidents of Woodend-Hesket Football Netball Club for the next 12 months.

The ground breaking move to elect co-presidents occurred at the club’s annual meeting last week.

James Chettle did not seek re-election for a further term as president, and was thanked for the power of work he has done to help the Hawks in various ways.

Lindner is the club’s first-ever female president, and in conjunction with Podbury, they will be looking to move the club forward as a united front, setting an example in regards to equality.

For the first time in the club’s history there are five females on the committee.

After the co-presidents were elected, Rupert Miranda became vice-president, and Andrew Makin secretary.

General committee members are Mel Rundle, Luke Bourke, Lachlan ‘EJ’ Whitton, Ty Coppinger, Chloe Galakos, Tom Gawthrop.

New life member

Paul Podbury, who has spent 20 years with the Hawks both as a player and in various off-field leadership roles, became the latest Hawk to be made a life member.

He was praised for his club loyalty and energy, both on and off the field.

A highly competitive and skilled player, Podbury has been one of those players who really “put in” for the Hawks at all levels.
