Metricon customer and first-time homeowner, Matt Stahl, recently received the keys to his brand-new home in regional Victoria.
Growing up in Kyneton, Matt always knew he would be destined to work in a hands-on profession and has been a landscaper for the last seven years in the Castlemaine region. Through hard work, Matt saved up to buy a block of land in Campbell’s Creek.
Speaking about the journey to building his first home, a Metricon Santorini from the Freedom range, Matt said, “Growing up, dad and I always looked at Metricon homes, and I always wanted to build a Santorini because I loved the big open floorplan.
“I also loved the unique Aspen façade, so when building my first home, I had Metricon at the top of his list to help make my home-building dream a reality.
“I’m 27 and wanted to move out of home and have my own space, build something from scratch, just the way I wanted it, and obviously, I want to be proud of my home. I didn’t think it would be possible. However, when I first spoke to the team at Metricon, they guided me through the financials and showed me just how achievable it could be.
“As a local living five minutes up the road and working in the area, I wanted to be involved with the build process from start to finish and enjoyed excellent site access throughout the construction phase. I loved being able to finish work and have something to look forward to, coming around to have a look and see what they had done and speaking with the build team.
“Building my first home, I wanted to savour the whole process, pick out all of colours and finishes, so I went up to Studio M in Shepparton, and it was great working with the knowledgeable team there who made it very, very easy to pick out what was going to match.
“Once the home was ready, the attention to detail was impressive, especially with my build team at the end of the process. I’m really happy with how everything’s gone – I got the keys on a Friday night, and by the end of the weekend, I had moved everything in. It was great to cook a meal in my very own kitchen. Naturally being a landscaper I couldn’t wait to start working on the outdoor areas, too,” he said.

“Matt’s built a natural ecosystem pond with a waterfall and a creek going past the front bedroom with two timber bridges going over the stream and a natural rockery out the front, that all lights up at night – it is spectacular, and his home fits so nicely into the local surrounds of the community.
“We are genuinely passionate about building our customer’s homes, and Matt’s been fantastic to work with in helping him build his first home. It has also definitely been a family affair, as his sister is now building her family home with Metricon too, which is really exciting,” Rebecca said.
