After the great success of As You Like It in 2018, The Tempest (a sound project) in 2021, and Romeo and Juliet in 2023, Castlemaine Theatre Company is delighted to bring another of Shakespeare’s great plays to the Phee Broadway Theatre: the beloved comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The story is set in the moonlit woods outside Athens, where four young lovers, a feuding fairy king and queen, and a hapless troupe of amateur actors cross paths with the mischievous Puck.

Spells are cast, identities are mistaken, and love takes on the most unexpected forms in this riotous tale of dreams and transformation.

This production is directed by Rob Jorritsma, a long-time contributor to Castlemaine’s theatre scene.

Rob has previously directed the celebrated productions of As You Like It in 2018 and Romeo and Juliet in 2023 for the company.

The cast of 22 features a deeply talented ensemble of local actors, with many inspired to join the company for the first time after seeing previous CTC shows.

With boundless energy and theatrical magic, this production promises to be a gloriously memorable take on Shakespeare’s classic. Don’t miss your chance to experience the laughter, romance, and delightful chaos of A Midsummer Night’s Dream!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is playing from May 16 to June 1. Friday and Saturday evenings from 7pm and Sunday matinees from 2pm.
