Michael Dowding, Kyneton
Further to Angela Crawford’s piece on petrol in Kyneton (Midland Express, January 22); it is clear from history and current practice that the retail fuel suppliers in this town could be cartelling in order to maintain a consistent pump price and maximise profit.
This is a form of trading outlawed by the ACCC as it discourages competition, alienates and disadvantages consumers and customers.
The response to Ms Crawford’s enquiries of Woolworths is plain ludicrous and her being ostensibly stonewalled by the BP traders is not in the spirit of community interest.
Kuppers … well, at least the product is Shell and supposedly reliable.
