Gisborne Post Office has been crowned the best in Australia and beaten more than 4000 branches across the country at the Australia Post Awards Night.
Gisborne Post Office manager Joe Vella accepted the award last Wednesday night on behalf of his team. He told the Express nothing was ever too difficult for him and his staff to handle.
“A post office in any small town is the hub of a community. It’s a place where everyone needs to go,” Joe said.
“We are a unique post office. We look after the community,” he continued.
“[But] To be the best in Australia is just an incredible achievement. I’m just blown away.”
Australia Post executive general manager Josh Bannister presented the award and made particular mention of Joe in a statement to the Express.
“Joe’s dedication to providing an outstanding customer experience and his commitment to our customers is what makes him a valued part of the community,” he said.
