Castlemaine First Nations arts advocate and broadcaster, Pete Dawson, is rallying his friends to organise a ‘Share The Love’ bushfire benefit fair on Saturday February 14.
Global Village Learning has made its new campus at the Old Castlemaine Gaol available and dozens of local musicians have committed to supporting the event, which will also include an art auction, market stalls, food vans and a visit from the Jirrahlinga Dingo Conservation and Wildlife Education Centre with some of their wildlife.
Harcourt musician Loz Lawrey has put his hand up to coordinate the concert aspect with the support of Castlemaine muso Benz, and Ben Laycock of CASPA is coordinating the art display and auction.
Anwyn Stekahofs and Fiona Brand are getting the market together with stalls and food vans. Local community advocate John Lewis is also helping to pull the event together.
With support from community radio MainFM, our sister paper the Castlemaine Mail, Mount Alexander Shire Council and the generosity of Global Village Learning, the Harcourt Bushfire Benefit Fair will run from midday until late.
Musicians will feature across three stages including Kavisha Mazzell OAM, Trudy Fatnowna, Loz Lawrey, and Jan ‘Yarn’ Wositzky just to name a few.
There will also be children’s activities, sound healing and more. Be sure to pencil the date in your calendar.
