Versatility across the court was important as Riddell A-grade netballers won a crucial match against Gisborne Giants on Saturday.

The Bombers prevailed 42-38 to consolidate in fourth place, with the Giants sliding to fifth.

Brianna De Haas turned in one of her top games, and Riddell had four different goal scorers, while the Giants relied on Maria Seumanutafa and Olivia Craske.

Lancefield is third, with a healthy percentage margin over Riddell, after outplaying sixth-placed Kyneton 42-33.

The home side was without super scorer Ellie Bird for the vital contest, as Shanae Brundell and Lilli Florance put enough goals on the board for Lancefield.

Second-placed Woodend-Hesket cruised to a 65-29 victory over Diggers Rest, with Milla Howard 37 and hard working Natalie McDonald 28 the scorers for the Hawks.

Ladder leader Wallan outclassed Melton South 69-32, with Maeve Donegan’s 51 goals the best for this grade.

A good 62-43 win for eighth-placed Romsey at home to Melton Centrals. The reliable Emma Grech notched up 40 goals, with 22 to Elizabeth Crump.

In B-grade, the top two sides in Lancefield and Romsey are separated on percentage.

Lancefield was impressive in a 73-29 win (Tarnee Hammond 58) over Kyneton, and Romsey won 63-32 (Maddison Thompson 41) over Melton Centrals.
