The Castlemaine Circus Festival will be presenting one special online show only this coming Saturday evening.
Spring Cabaret will be beamed live from the home of Castlemaine Circus Inc at The Goods Shed Castlemaine.
Festival founders Caz Walsh and Mason West said they had to make the tough call last month not to go ahead with plans for their inaugural festival on the Western Reserve.
“With restrictions the way they were we just couldn’t see how it was going to be possible. We were pretty devastated,” Caz said.
“However, we were determined that the show would go on and therefore we are delighted to present the online cabaret for one show only this Saturday. It will be a great taster for what’s to come at the 2021 event.
“Our friends at Castlemaine Circus Inc, where we are tutors, have kindly made their space available free of charge and we have pulled together some amazing home-grown talent,” she said.
The Campbells Creek-based circus performers said they were spoilt for choice with a lot of Aussie performers having returned home due to the crisis.
“We will welcome hula hooper and aerialist Shona Conacher who is normally off performing on a cruise ship around the US, and juggler Hazel Bock who would normally be doing dinner theatre shows in Germany about this time of year,” Caz said.
“Hepburn’s Aurora Kurth will be our MC and will also sing a few numbers.”
The family friendly show will feature aerials, Rolla Bolla, foot juggling, hula hoops and balancing acts just to name a few and will run for about one hour. The performance will be filmed and livestreamed by Chris Bennett of Underground Media.
Tickets are just $5 (plus booking fee) or you can opt to chip in a little more for Circus Supporters, Super Circus Supporters or Knock Our Socks Off Supporters if you wish.
