
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas was yesterday sworn in as a Victorian Cabinet minister.
The local MP has been handed the portfolios of regional development and agriculture.
Ms Thomas said having grown up in regional Victoria, and representing the Macedon electorate for more than six years, she was excited about the opportunities to work for country people and regional and rural communities across the state.
“Our agricultural and regional industries are a cornerstone of the Victoria economy, and will be crucial in helping us build back better following this challenging year,” she said.
Replacing Jill Hennessy as Victoria’s new Attorney-General is Jaclyn Symes.
Ms Symes will also continue in her responsibilities as leader of the government in the Legislative Council and Minister for Resources.
Carrum MP Sonya Kilkenny will serve as new cabinet secretary.
Steve Dimopoulos, currently serving as parliamentary secretary to the premier, will also serve as parliamentary secretary for mental health.
Harriet Shing will also add to her responsibilities, bringing her technical experience in governance and in working with regional communities to her new role as parliamentary secretary for water.
Former paramedic and Victorian secretary of Ambulance Employees Australia, Steve McGhie, is the new parliamentary secretary for health.
