Cobaw State Forest closed

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall have caused several fallen trees and debris to block roads and tracks in the Cobaw State Forest.

Forest Fire Management Victoria has closed the Cobaw State Forest due to storm damage.

Loddon Mallee deputy chief fire officer Scott Falconer said the forest would be closed until June 30 as a result of extensive storm and wind damage across this area. “We are asking people to please avoid visiting the forest until it is safe to do so,” Mr Falconer said.

“Damaging winds and heavy rainfall have caused several fallen trees and debris to block roads and tracks along with other hazards.
“Our crews are still assessing the extent of damage across public land in the Macedon area to make sure it is safe for the public to access.

“For your own safety, we are asking you to adhere to signs and stay out of the forest until these dangers are cleared.”
If you are travelling, please be aware that many highways and roads are closed and several power outages are affecting traffic lights across the state.
