Community leads bushfire relief concert in Macedon Ranges

A community-led bushfire relief concert with an impressive line-up is expected to attract up to 400 people in Kyneton on Saturday, February 1.
Lancefield siblings Angel and Jesse Ashman are partnering with Macedon Ranges Shire Council to deliver the event with proceeds of all ticket sales to go directly to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
Angel, 20, and Jesse, 16, said they were heartbroken by the devastation following the bushfires and wanted to act.
“We were moved to do our part to help, as individuals and as a music community,” Angel said.
“We’re from a family that loves performing and listening so it is special to be able to do something that we love, knowing that it will help.”
The pair reached out to the council and Lancefield and Kyneton businesses for support, and were blown away by the response.
“It really goes to show that when needed, small communities are willing to help make a difference,” Angel said.
Artists featured include Lloyd Spiegel, Taylor Sheridan, Geoff Achison, Scott Darlow and Marcie Jones, supported by Placeholder, Brad Gruber, Nate Smith, 40 Thieves, Cooper Carmichael, Paper Jane, Jarrod Shaw, Jacob Soltan, Angel and Jesse Ashman. Athol Guy of The Seekers fame will be master of ceremonies on the day.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said the concert was a great example of young people driving positive change for the benefit of others and the council was “pleased to support such a worthy event”.
Concert tickets cost $25. Doors open 5pm, music starts at 6pm. The concert is supported by Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Kyneton Toyota. For details, or to book tickets, visit mrsc.vic.gov.au/bushfire-relief
