Well-known Kyneton local Gordon Dickeson has raised a few eyebrows this past week with a newly coloured shock of bright pink hair.
It’s all for a good cause, however, as ‘Dicko’ champions breast cancer awareness with a fundraising campaign.
It’s an issue close to the Powercor linesman’s heart, with his own partner currently battling the disease.
“I’m going to shave it all off on the 24th, and I’ve got a web page set up, and hopefully we can raise a few dollars for the Breast Cancer Foundation,” he told the Express.
“One in seven women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and men aren’t immune either, men can get breast cancer as well.
“We’ve all got wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, partners, granddaughters … so we want to raise awareness, make some dollars and if my little donation saves one life down the track, my job’s done.”
Dicko’s Powercor workplace is also supporting the cause, hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast today and committing to match the amount Dicko raises, dollar for dollar.
“A big thank you to Powercor who’ve been very generous,” Dicko said.
“And thank you to Deb and Joe from Joe’s Barber Shop, who have been really helpful too.”
