A small kennel from Kyneton has won four titles at the Labrador National.
Morndew Labradors was awarded Best Breeders Team, Best Dam and Progeny, Best Baby Puppy In Show, and Best Minor Puppy In Show at the event held in Brisbane last month.
“We are over the moon with our results,” Morndew’s Hugh Vardon told the Express.
The Labrador National is the most prestigious Labrador Championship Show, Obedience Trial and Retrieving Test in Australia, held every two years.
Mr Vardon said labrador kennels and enthusiasts travelled from across Australia and New Zealand to show off their dogs.
“We have consistently done well at the nationals over the years, this year Julian my youngest son accompanied me with 10 of our dogs who we had trained, groomed and prepared for the event,” he said.
“It was a huge road trip of around 3500km over six days, which was worth all the hard work.”
In fact, nine of the kennel’s 10 dogs attending placed – an achievement in itself at a show with more than 260 dogs entered.
“All of our dogs are Morndew dogs, being bred, trained and raised in Kyneton, we have a exceptional gene pool with the help of modern science clear of most hereditary diseases, producing stock true to the labrador in type and temperament,” Mr Vardon said.
“We constantly strive to maintain our gene pool if not improve it by importing lines from some of the most respected families of labradors from around the world.”
