Braemar College students have had a brush with The Block fame.
With the current season being filmed and produced in Gisborne South this year, Braemar College was thrilled to have the historic, iconic main building of their Mount Macedon Campus, Braemar House, feature as the façade for ‘Block HQ’.
The college also accepted an opportunity to have some students feature on the show, serving a meal for the group of contestants.
Each season, the show uses a different iconic landmark to represent ‘Block HQ’, the location where each Sunday night on the show, contestants gather to receive their feedback from the judges.
The show’s executive producer and team visited Braemar College in July to capture a range of footage of
the exterior of Braemar House.
The different clips and drone footage captured featuring the team cars out front can be seen each week during the reveal episodes.
In typical Macedon Ranges form, the crew were able to capture what seemed like four seasons of weather in a short morning block with glimpses of fog, mist, rain, cloud, and sunshine all making an appearance.
Students from VCE Media classes were able to join the technical and camera crews as they captured Braemar House, witnessing their preparation and process as well as learning the roles of the team.
On a separate occasion, a small group of Braemar students and staff were invited to prepare and serve a meal for the group of contestants and the show hosts, Scott Cam and Shelley Craft.
It was opportunity to showcase the work of VCE VET Hospitality students.
Together with a team of staff who, working collaboratively with the producers, created a formal dining experience and three-course meal, presented in Scotty’s freshly finished dining room.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for personal growth, confidence, and insight into where the industry can take you for all the students involved,” said college principal, Russell Deer.
“Both of these experiences with The Block provided invaluable opportunities for Braemar students.”
The episode featuring Braemar students was aired on September 22 and is available to watch on 9 Now.
