It’s one of the most anticipated and cherished events in the region, and this year the Kyneton Show promises to be more impressive than ever.
The Kyneton Agricultural Society is excited to announce its first all-female executive leadership team in 163 years.
Louise Conron takes the helm as the first female president in more than two decades and only the third in the history of the society. Louise will work alongside newly appointed vice-president Helen Heinrich to deliver a dynamic show experience for everyone in the community.
The new team brings years of experience and passion to the job.
Louise is an award-winning show enthusiast, who has been entering her delicious homemade jams and preserves in the pavilion since 2009.
She started with the KAS as a volunteer steward in 2022, before joining the committee then taking on the role of vice-president.
“I’m delighted to be elected president,” Louise said. “My enthusiasm and love of the Show spirit will assist me to take the Agricultural Society forward and develop the show further.”
Vice-president Helen Heinrich has been the KAS horse steward for the past three years and has served on many local community committees.
Louise and Helen will be supported by a dedicated committee and former president Val Valance (KAS president 1998-2002), who is still actively involved in the show.
It’s an exciting but critical time for the Kyneton Agricultural Show, as an increasing number of regional shows are folding or struggling to lure volunteers.
“We have a fantastic, passionate committee and we’re feeling that enthusiasm right across the community, with visitors through the gates and pavilion entries climbing every year,” Louise said.
Bringing the largest event in the Macedon Ranges Shire to life is no small feat.
More than 100 dedicated volunteers help host the Show, which attracts close to 10,000 people.
This years’ Kyneton Show will be held on Friday November 14 (5.30pm-10pm) and Saturday November 15 (9am – 4pm), featuring the very best of the region’s food, agriculture, arts and crafts.
From delicious treats in the pavilion to the thrill of the rides and woodchop competition, there’s something for everyone.
