Despite the weather, 94.9 MainFM’s annual footy fundraiser – The MAIN Game – at the Camp Reserve on Sunday was very well attended.
It’s an event the community knows and loves and they weren’t about to let a cold and wet day dampen their enthusiasm!
The Rockatoos had the lead from the outset but there were only two points separating the teams at half-time.
The Rockatoos eventually steamed home to win 6.6 (42) to the Radio Galahs 2.4 (16) and end the Galahs’ winning streak.
Thompson’s Foundry Band kicked off entertainment for the day, with Curlers playing inside the clubrooms at half-time and the Rural Hot B*tches performing on the ground at three-quarter-time in front of a captive audience.
All in all, the footy fundraiser kicked plenty of goals while raising vital funds to support the local community radio station.
