National Tree Day is coming up on Sunday July 27. National Tree Day is a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to the environment. To celebrate, Connecting Country is partnering with the Friends of Campbells Creek and others to bring you a community planting day and nature celebration event on the banks of the Campbells Creek.
The event offers an opportunity for the community to come together, learn about and take action to restore local biodiversity in the face of climate change.
The Friends are hoping to plant more than 3000 plants, which will require many helping hands, big and little! As well as planting, there will be lots of family friendly nature engagement activities including ‘mini forest’ creations with Wild Families (part of the Victorian National Parks Association) and nature-themed craft activities.
It’s on from 10am to 1.30pm on Sunday July 27 at the Campbells Creek trail, upstream from the Princess Street bridge, Campbells Creek.
Bring drinking water, suitable clothes for cold weather and getting dirty. Gumboots recommended.
A barbecue lunch by Rotary Castlemaine will be provided after the planting.
A big thank you to the sponsors of this event – The Hub Foundation, Community Bank Maldon and District and Mount Alexander Shire Council. For more information, visit the Connecting Country website www.connectingcountry.org.au
