Woodend has been honoured as one of the Top 3 Farmers Market Towns… not just in Australia, but in the world, for 2025.
The recognition was given at the Third General Assembly of the World Farmers Markets Coalition, held during the World Food Forum in Rome.
While Rome took the top prize, Woodend’s recognition as a finalist places it firmly on the global stage as a leader in community-driven, sustainable food systems.
The Woodend Community Farmers Market, managed by the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group, has grown to become the largest and strongest market in a region home to six farmers markets.
The market offers more than 90 regular and seasonal stallholders and is powered by a passionate volunteer base.
It truly is a vibrant hub of local produce, artisan goods and environmental initiatives — from zero-waste programs to EV charging stations and repair cafés.
So, be sure to stop by at one of the world’s best next time your in town on the first Saturday of the month at the Community Centre grounds at the corner of High and Forest Streets.
