Are you a young person (under 18) who loves fashion and being creative? The Worn Again Youth Fashion Parade is back as part of the Worn Again Youth Festival. The festival is being run in partnership between The Good Op Shop and the Mount Alexander Shire Council.
This year’s fashion parade has three themes to choose from: dress your pet (a regular favourite); spots and stripes, and cyberpunk or steampunk. Everyone who registers for the Fashion Parade gets a $20 voucher to use at The Good Op Shop towards their outfit.
“We’re really looking forward to this year’s fashion parade,” said Tiffany Inglis from The Good Op Shop.
“There is so much enthusiasm and we love how all the young people put so much effort and creativity into their outfits.”
The fashion parade started in 2023 with the aim to encourage more people to get into upcycling and to appreciate that fashion doesn’t have to be about buying new. With slow fashion on the rise, and more and more people aware of the need to reduce the amount we consume, the Worn Again Fashion Parade is one way to celebrate those ideals.
“It’s a really fun day,” Tiffany said. “There will be schools running fundraising stalls, bubble tea, live music, badge making, a photo booth, games and more.
“The Council’s Youth Advisory Group and Amplify do an amazing amount of work to help run this event. It’s just a really nice way to spend a couple of hours supporting our young people’s creativity and ideas.”
