Woodend Neighbourhood House will open its doors to the community next Saturday, September 5, giving locals a chance to discover the wide range of activities, groups and programs on offer.
The Spring Open House will run from 9am to noon alongside the Woodend Farmers Market.
Visitors can meet tutors, activity coordinators, volunteers and staff, explore the neighbourhood house and take part in demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Manager Melissa Baker said the event would provide an opportunity for locals to learn more about the organisation and get involved.
“Whether you’re interested in trying something creative, joining a group, volunteering or simply connecting with people in the community, there’s something for everyone,” she said.
Activities will include a display of work by the Art Club for Kids, mandala greeting card making and picket fence painting, with morning tea also available.
Demonstrations will showcase several of the groups and programs, including Mahjong, acrylic painting, African drumming, family yoga and kirtan.
The Repair Cafe and Bike Shed will also be open, allowing visitors to meet volunteer repairers and bike enthusiasts and find out how they can get involved.
Visitors can also collect a copy of the Term 4 program and learn more about classes, activities and groups at Woodend Neighbourhood House.
