The 2018 Bendigo Writers Festival is set to kick off on Thursday August 9 and run over three days, featuring some spectacular talent from across the region.
Castlemaine’s Suzanne Donisthorpe will conduct two live interviews on stage, each about an hour long, with the opportunity for a question and answer session at the end. The first will be Scrublands on Friday August 10 at the Capital Theatre at 2.45pm, where Suzanne will interview journalist Chris Hammer.
Chris Hammer has more than 30 years’ experience as a journalist, dividing his career between covering Australian federal politics and international affairs. For many years he was a roving foreign correspondent for SBS TV’s flagship current affairs program Dateline. Scrublands is his first novel.
Then on Sunday August 12, Suzanne will interview the famous fashion designer Alannah Hill in Butterfly on a Pin.
Alannah Hill is a designer, author and stylist. She was the founder and for 17 years creative director of the brand Alannah Hill, one of Australia’s most trailblazing and iconic fashion houses. Alannah’s memoir is Butterfly On a Pin.
Suzanne said she was looking forward to both interviews.
“What a joy to be able to interview these incredible people,” Suzanne said.
The award-winning Castlemaine author Alex Miller will also feature in History and Truth on Saturday August 11 at Ulumbarra Theatre with Tom Griffiths and in Love Story on Sunday August 12 with Fiona Parker.
Cate Kennedy from Castlemaine is also part of a great lineup of talent. Suzanne said it was an extraordinary festival of ideas, and encouraged everyone to get along.
