Since Luke Brown’s tragic and sudden death in April, life for his family has been unbearably tough. But amid the darkness of their grief, the Brown family has dug deep and found a positive message which has become Luke’s legacy.
At Luke’s memorial service, his family encouraged the congregation to get health checks.
Last Thursday night local GP Dr Robert Power addressed a large group of footballers, coaches and trainers at the Kyneton Football Netball Club’s weekly Thursday night dinners.
“Luke’s mum Vicki reached out to me to spread the health check message, …if it resonates with anybody from our club to take themselves to the doctor, it’s been worth it,” KFNC president Karen O’Sullivan said.
Luke’s mum Vicki, dad Graham and brother Adam were present for Dr Power’s health talk, so too were members of Luke’s second family, his colleagues from Elders Kyneton.
The Brown family had a little ray of sunshine enter their world recently with the birth of Vanessa and Luke’s second son, George Luke Darcy Brown, a baby brother for 18-month-old Harvey.
Reserves coach Matt Shea also presented Luke’s parents with a cheque for $1500 from the Kyneton Football Netball Club’s Community Goodwill Fund, which is facilitated by Jellis Craig Macedon Ranges. The money will go into the Luke Brown Trust.
