A well-known stallholder at Macedon Ranges Farmers Markets, including Woodend and Lancefield, has taken out one of the Australian food industry’s most prestigious awards – a gold medal in the From the Paddock category of the delicious. Produce Awards.
McIvor Farm Foods’ Belinda and Jason Hagan are based at Tooborac and specialise in a pasture-raised, ethically grown, old breed of pig.
The Hagans produce prized berkshire and berkshire cross-breed pork known for its juiciness, flavour and tenderness.
Over the past eight years in business, McIvor Farm Foods has been nominated as a state finalist in the From the Paddock category five times and are over the moon about being announced the winner of gold for the first time.
“We are honoured and elated to receive this industry recognition,” Belinda said.
The Hagans received their nomination via recognised leading Australian chefs Nick and Sonia Anthony of Masons of Bendigo, to whom McIvor Farm has been a supplier for six years.
The Hagans also thanked their community and family for their ongoing support.
