USA firefighters assist

USA firefighters are trained in the use of CFA fire trucks at the Victorian Emergency Management Institute.

Thirty-nine firefighters from the United States were trained in the use of CFA fire trucks by local volunteers from Darraweit Guim and Kyneton at the Victorian Emergency Management Institute at Mount Macedon last Friday.
With conditions worsening across the state, they were put straight to action with deployment to fight the Gippsland fires.
The USA crews were allocated 10 trucks with CFA drivers on each and worked under CFA leadership.
They will continue to help in the fire efforts for the rest of the month.
Strike teams and trucks from across the local district were also sent to assist in Gippsland last week.
