Four Department of Education employees working at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre have now returned positive tests for COVID-19.
A spokesperson from the Department of Justice and Community Safety said the department would continue to work with the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services to minimise any potential risks for inmates and staff.
“All young people tested have returned a negative result for COVID-19,” the spokesperson said.
“We will continue to support and monitor the health and wellbeing of all young people and staff at the facility.”
Movement of inmates within the facility remains restricted in line with the latest health advice.
Youth Justice has implemented a range of measures in response to the coronavirus, including screening questions, temperature testing for visitors, staff and inmates, quarantine measures, and testing as required in accordance with health advice.
It is mandatory for visitors to wear personal protective equipment at all times while on site at a youth justice facility.
