Staff at Gisborne’s Williamson’s Foodworks will hand over their day’s wages and all profits made at the store on April 2 to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
It’s been a store tradition for more than eight years and could see as much as $30,000 raised for RCH with a morning of family fun and entertainment planned.
Fresh operations manager Brayden Rodgers said the team aimed to top previous store totals to make up for last year’s COVID-19 challenge.
“We’re hoping to reach the $30,000 mark this year – or go beyond that – as we had to cancel last year’s event due the pandemic,” he said.
Staff have planned plenty of activities to enjoy with face painting, free giveaways, raffles, competitions, food tastings and a special visit from the Easter Bunny.
People are encouraged to add to the store’s total donation through their shopping experience or by making their own donation on site.
The supermarket will be open Friday April 2 from 9am to 1pm.
