Castlemaine-based band/art project DEAD will play a free show at the town’s ‘Village Square’ entertainment space on Friday, March 4 over sunset, on a new moon.
Pre-pandemic the band toured relentlessly, nationally and overseas, and were most at home in sweaty, packed rooms. In the absence of such opportunities they have adapted and created new music.
Over the past two years the band has developed a number of shows that reflect the times we now find ourselves in.
‘DEAD Moon Night’ is a two-hour performance that responds, in real time, to the environment in which it takes place; the setting sun, the passing traffic and the hum of the town itself all become part of the show. Time moves more slowly during this show.
This show is based around improvisation and experimentation. The audience is invited to come and go as they please or stay for the whole show.
The performance will kick off at 6pm and run through to about 8.30pm at The Village Square in Frederick Street. The show is kid friendly and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Bar courtesy of Shedshaker Brewing.
