Quick response to a gas leak avoided potential disaster on Wednesday.
A passer-by called Triple Zero to report a strong smell of gas outside the Kyneton Community House shopfront on High Street shortly before 5.30pm.
Two crews from Kyneton Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene and used gas detectors to source the leak, which was found to be on the footpath in gas valve covers.
The brigade donned breathing apparatus and set up a precautionary house line while waiting on a response from the gas company.
Police diverted eastbound traffic for just over an hour while the scene was made safe.
