New arts hub for Lancefield

Metal sculptures, local landscapes and botanical art are among the works to be discovered at Lancefield’s new gallery space.

Opened last week, the gallery on High Street features the diverse work of 10 artists from Lancefield and surrounds.

Artist Sharon Pappas said when Lancefield Neighbourhood House offered the location for a gallery, many were excited to transform the space.

“We’re hoping it can become a community art hub where people can display and buy local art, and also have the chance to be part of art workshops,” Ms Pappas said.

“We really want to offer more: art classes, workshops and social art that is just fun, and people don’t need to be an artist to take part.

“Lancefield is so supportive. We’ve had quite a few people already. Everyone misses the old MAD Gallery. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback that we’re here.”

Everything in the gallery is for sale and the pieces will chance regularly.

The gallery is located at 34A High Street (next to the op shop) and is currently open from 10am to 4pm daily until Christmas.

It will also open for Lancefield’s special evening of late trading on Friday, December 17, until 8pm.
