Kyneton Agents yarded just on 300 cattle in the store cattle sale held at the Kyneton yards last Wednesday, this being their second sale in one week with 1500 weaner cattle yarded the previous Wednesday.

Two feature lines of joined heifers and cows were yarded and attracted very strong competition from buyers who attended in person, along with telephone bidding during the sale.

The two feature lines of cattle were from Braeside Red Angus at Charlton, who dispersed their red angus herd, and Anthony Battersby from Elphinstone who yarded 78 preg-tested in-calf angus heifers rising two years for autumn calving.

The top price was achieved by Braeside Red Angus for a red angus cow with calf at foot, which made $7250, purchased by Mt Charlie Red Angus at Gisborne.

The volume buyer of the Braeside cattle was David Hobbs representing 5M Red Angus from Molong NSW who purchased 40 of the cattle.

A summary of the Braeside cattle sold is red angus cows and calves from $4600 to $7250, preg-tested red angus cows $4100 to $6800, joined heifers $4000 and heifer weaners sold at $2850.

Four red angus 18-month-old bulls sold from $3500 to $4500. The preg-tested angus heifers account Anthony Battersby sold from $3200 to $3600 per head while his preg-tested in-calf black baldy heifers sold in two pens at $2800 and $3140 per head.

The above lots of cattle were sold by McGrath Rodwells livestock.
