Macedon author Margaret Lygnos explores the power of connection in her latest novel Group Therapy.
A group of women meet in their semi-rural town and get to know each other through weekly café meetings started by the local shire council.
Slowly, as they learn to trust each other and form a special bond, secrets begin to tumble out.
“The story is fictional but the women in this story all have their problems, which they work through with the help of their group of friends,” Lygnos said.
The book touches on childhood traumas, infidelity, work pressures and isolation.
Lygnos said she hoped the story would open readers’ eyes to some of the challenges women and children may have faced.
“I like to write about women and children as I feel they are often disadvantaged,” Lygnos said.
“I am a retired nurse with a lot ideas in my head due to life’s experiences therefore I have a few more stories to write yet.”
Group Therapy is Lygnos’s second book and was released at the end of last year. It can be purchased at The Trading Post Mount Macedon, New Leaves Woodend or Collins Booksellers Sunbury.
