Volunteers bring rainbow love

The organisers of Puppy Pride 2022 are looking for a team of volunteers.

Do you love dogs and people and all things rainbow?

The organisers of Puppy Pride 2022 are looking for a team of volunteers for this inaugural event to celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community and their pooches with a day out at the Kyneton Botanical Gardens.

As part of the Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival, which runs from March 26 to April 25, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health in partnership with Macedon Ranges Shire Council will be hosting an event for LGBTIQA+ people, their allies and their puppies to gather together, meet and greet and delight in our beloved four-legged friends.

Volunteer tasks will include setting up and packing down the event, assisting with the preceding Puppy Pride walk along the Campaspe River, supporting staff during the day and most importantly having fun revelling in the glorious day that Puppy Pride promises to be.

“Like all successful events, we will be relying on a team of volunteers to ensure the event is smooth-running,” says volunteer coordinator Sharon.

“We strongly encourage members of the LGBTIQA+ community to get in touch with us about volunteering for Puppy Pride and to find out about other rainbow volunteer opportunities we have here at Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health.”

The organisers hope the event will be a welcome opportunity for people to come together, connect and celebrate the visibility of our LGBTIQA+ community after a difficult couple of years.

“Providing opportunities for the community to connect is now more important than ever and that’s why we are super excited about Puppy Pride,” says Rhani Dean-Talbett, Sunbury and Cobaw’s WayOut project worker.

“Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet people and get to know the community that surrounds you.”

Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health has two programs that work to connect the LGBTIQA+ communities in the Macedon Ranges.

CLIP – the Country LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Program, and the youth-focused WayOut program organise a number of events and groups that champion positive health and wellbeing outcomes and celebrate pride.

Puppy Pride will be held at the Kyneton Botanical gardens on Sunday April 10, 11.30am – 2.30pm. If you are interested in volunteering contact: volunteer@scchc.org.au/9744 9269.
