A rare vintage Porsche tractor has been sold by Kyneton auctioneer Martin Evans.
“Porsche made tractors in the period 1956 to 1963, then closed the tractor plant to concentrate on making automobiles,” Mr Evans said.
“Very few Porsche-branded tractors were shipped to Australia except a two-cylinder, circa 1961, surfaced in the tiny Gippsland town of Ripplebrook.”
The tractor returned to life on February 19 in an online clearance sale.
Mr Evans said furious bidding saw the vintage tractor sell for $15,450, plus tax.
“Bidders were predominantly collectors of vintage farm machinery; the attraction was that the Porsche tractor could be the only Porsche-branded tractor in Australia,” he said.
