
A Woodend woman was critically injured when she was hit by a tipper truck at Gisborne last Friday afternoon.
Police said the truck was travelling north into the township at the intersection of Aitken Street and Hamilton Street when it struck the woman as she was crossing Aitken Street just before 5pm.
She was dragged underneath the truck into the intersection and was trapped for a short time but was freed before police arrived.
The woman, aged in her 40s, suffered critical chest and leg injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
