Channel Nine’s famous reality renovation show, The Block, is returning for Season 18, and will break ground in the Macedon Ranges in early April 2022.
Producers are calling for local tradie businesses to ‘be ready’. The Block will film for 12 weeks in the area and will see contestants in a competition to transform five family homes which will then be sold via a public auction.
The project is mammoth and those familiar with the show will be more than aware of the necessity of trusted, hardworking trades for its success. Contestants are tasked with sourcing tradies as part of the competition. They must research, secure who they work with and manage their hire and time.
To assist with sourcing these tradies, The Block is partnering with Australia’s largest online tradie marketplace, hipages, which is calling for tradies to sign up and register to the app for the project.
“We are thrilled to be doing a treechange and this means sourcing tradies in a new location so having a resource like hipages to help us source locally is fantastic,” explains The Block executive producer, Julian Cress.
Opportunities for local tradies is set to soar
This is the first time in the show’s 17-year history that producers have chosen a location outside of the city, in an opted ‘treechange’. This gives new, exciting opportunities to local tradies who work in this area.
hipages CEO and co-founder, Roby Sharon-Zipser, explained The Block filming in the Macedon Ranges meant game-changing possibilities for local tradies to receive paid work as part of the show.
“What better claim for your business than to say that you’ve been part of such a challenging and successful project?!” Roby said.
“There is also likely to be a knock-on renovation effect as locals take inspiration from the transformations near their homes and are fueled by the value added to local properties.
“I would expect that growth for tradie businesses in this local area will continue beyond the show filming.”
hipages is an effortless way for tradies to source job leads of any size, including major home renovations.
Tradies with a hipages membership can tailor settings to ensure they’re sent the job leads that are of most interest to them.
Tradies are then sent notifications that show these jobs from homeowners seeking a tradie in their local area or beyond, as per their settings.
The tradie can choose to accept the job lead and share a quote. No commission is charged on the job.
