Hepburn Shire councillors last week returned Cr Brian Hood as mayor and elected Cr Juliet Simpson as deputy mayor.
At last week’s statutory meeting Cr Hood and Cr Jen Bray were both nominated for the mayoral position, with Cr Hood receiving five votes.
Deputy mayor is Cr Juliet Simpson, who defeated Cr Tessa Halliday on a 4-3 vote.
Cr Hood said he was honoured to be re-elected to lead the council in the final year of this term and acknowledged challenges ahead including an extensive ongoing road repair program.
He was elected to the Coliban Ward in October 2020. He has held several senior management positions across public and private sector organisations, mostly as a Chief Finance Officer.
He is a company director and chair of the company that operates the Trentham and District Community Bank.
Cr Hood was an AFL level umpire and secretary of the AFL Umpires Association and is a life member of that organisation.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council is to meet this morning to elect its new mayor and deputy mayor.
