Williamson’s FoodWorks has claimed two of the most coveted awards at the Australian United Retailers Awards.
The popular Gisborne store has been named National Supermarket of the Year and Braydan Rodgers crowned Store Manager of the Year.
“We were hoping to be in contention for a few national awards and optimistic about supermarket of the year – but store manager, I had no idea! It’s flattering to receive both at once,” Mr Rodgers said.
The recently updated store has been an integral part of the Macedon Ranges community for decades and is committed to serving local residents. It is well-known for its Good Friday Appeal efforts, which raise about $25,000 each year on average.
Mr Rodgers said the store award was well-deserved recognition for the store and its staff, who have gone above and beyond to support the local community with great service, quality produce and competitive pricing.
“The quality of fresh food available every day of the week is something we really pride ourselves on,” he said.
“Customer service is also a strong focus and we try to make every customer feel valued. We’re also one of the most competitive supermarkets – we see a real benefit in that for our customers.”
Mr Rodgers began his employment with the Gisborne store when he was just 15 years old as a junior produce assistant.
Learning all the skills that he could from the owners, he decided to make the supermarket industry his future.
Mr Rodgers has seen many changes and trends in that time but he has been instrumental in adapting to the needs of the store, and those of the staff.
He puts good leadership down to “someone who is able to see things from multiple aspects and points of view”.
Mr Rodgers said the store aimed to continue being the best it could be and maintain its competitive edge.
