Macedon Ranges has secured the return of one of the region’s most unique events for 2026: The Lost Trades Fair.

Hanging Rock will be the backdrop for the event, which celebrates craftsmanship, skilled manual work, decorative arts, heritage crafts, rare trades and generational knowledge.

Lost Trades Fair founders, Lisa and Glen Rundell, are thrilled to be returning the event to the region where it all began in 2014.

“Hanging Rock is one of the most iconic sites in the state and it is very exciting to be able to bring our artisans – the rock stars of traditional and heritage trades – together at such an inspirational site to share their skills, trades, talent, stories, culture, knowledge and celebrate the finest levels of human craftsmanship,” Lisa said.

“We look forward to moving Lost Trades to this magical location and deliver an unmatched experience to the thousands of visitors from across Australia and around the world that attend each year.”

The Lost Trades Fair began in Kyneton and moved to a larger venue at Bendigo in 2020 to accommodate its growing popularity.

Macedon Ranges mayor Dom Bonanno is excited by the event’s return to the Ranges.

“Hanging Rock has a reputation as a location that has the power and magic to elevate events, and the return of the Lost Trades Fair is a perfect fit to inspire and captivate attendees and participants alike. Whether you are an avid fan or a first timer, this is one event you won’t want to miss,” he said.

“The Lost Trades Fair also gives our local accommodation and hospitality businesses a real boost and an opportunity to showcase their wares with the event projected to bring more than $3 million to the local economy.”

Further details including dates will be finalised soon.
