Pledge to deliver intersection upgrade

A re-elected Labor Victorian Government will invest $9 million to deliver safety and accessibility upgrades at the intersection of Urquhart Street and High Street, Woodend.

The works will include installing traffic lights to improve safety, with dedicated pedestrian operated signals to create better connections for walking and cycling.

Service roads on both sides of High Street will also be reconfigured to improve traffic flow and reduce the number of conflicting access points to the intersection.

The works aim to simplify access to Woodend Train Station for buses and other road users. An on-road bike lane will also be installed with connections to the existing bike lanes on High Street. Labor candidate for Macedon, Annette Death, said the government understood the intersection was a local safety concern.

“That’s why we’ll build on the investigation and design works Labor funded in 2022 – delivering this critical upgrade,” she said.

“The investment will protect pedestrians and cyclists and make it simpler and safer to get to Woodend Station.”
