Strike teams ready for action

Leave early when the Fire Danger Rating is Extreme or Catastrophic. If you are still on your property, or in an area of high fire danger please be aware emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide not to take action when warned.

Strike teams from the New South Wales Rural Fire Service have been deployed to Victoria to assist the CFA amid today’s extreme fire danger.

The teams have been strategically placed across the state including at the Emergency Management Institute at Mount Macedon. A large air tanker and Black Hawk helicopter from NSW have also been made available.

Strong wind and some lightning or storm activity is expected as a slight cool change comes through this evening, but little rain is forecast.

The CFA is continuing to battle a large blaze not yet under control northwest of Ballarat.

Now is the time to assess your situation and review your Bushfire Plan. Consider having multiple travel routes included in your Bushfire Plan as highways and main roads can close suddenly if they are deemed too dangerous to travel on.
