Proud as pooch!

Plenty of Macedon Ranges’ proud pooch owners turned out to the annual All Breeds Dog Conformation Show on Saturday at the Calabria Club/Bulla Dog Exhibition Centre in Bulla.

Hosted by the Toy Poodle Society of Victoria Inc., it is most unusual for a single-breed club to take on the big task of running an All Breeds Show as these are commonly run by All Breeds Clubs like Lancefield Dog Club or Kyneton Dog Club.

The ability for the Toy Poodle Society to be able to hold its All Breeds Show annually is thanks to the former honorary secretary, Lyn O’Neill from Wallan, for taking the bold step of innovation and courage to rally approval from Dogs Victoria to hold the first-ever All Breeds Show by a single breed club in Victoria back in 2019.

A total of 658 entries covered 131 breeds of dogs. Although the forecasted weather was looking bleak, the day was dry for all group judging, right up until the Best in Show Specials. The show was a huge success and a wonderful day was had by all.

Local businesses that sponsored the show include Melanie Newman Salon Essentials, Wine Tours Victoria and Wendy’s Meats/Coburn Cottages. The Calabria Club ensured all the entrants were fed and hydrated throughout the day.

Many locals were among the entries from Gisborne, Chintin and Riddells Creek, to name a few, as well as entries across all of Victoria. The organisers’ thoughts go out to the entrants from NSW who were unable to make it.
