Legends of the land

Catherine Crothers and Gary Jago are the faces behind Big Tree Distillery at Cobaw.

Originally from Melbourne, they moved to the Macedon Ranges to escape the stress of their busy city lives. Still busy, they now work in a business they love and can share with others.

They have recently been nominated as a Producer Finalist in Country Style’s Legends of the Land for their award-winning gins.

The nomination highlights their love of the land and their commitment to quality ingredients, with their botanicals mostly grown on their Newham farm or sourced locally.

Even the bottles are something that have a life after the gin is gone, with beautiful artworks created by local artist, Sarah Gabriel of Lauriston Press in Kyneton.

Come and say hello to Gary and Catherine at the Kyneton Farmers Market, Saturday September 10 and taste some of their delicious gins. Ask about Beryl, the secret behind their successful product.
