In celebration of International Women’s Day, a group of local performers will be hosting an evening of entertainment at the Northern Arts Hotel in Castlemaine on Wednesday, March 8.

Now in its third year, the event showcases some of the terrific female musical talents in the local area, with this year’s event shaping up to be a standout.

“You never really know who is going to say yes or no when you invite people, as everyone is pretty busy,” says host and local identity Cate Mercer.

“The final lineup this year includes women from different age groups, with the types of music ranging from folk to country, from a capella to opera, and with some surprises!

“This is an inclusive event, so you don’t only have to be a woman to go along – all are welcome.”

The evening will include a small taste of each artist’s work, followed by an invitation from Cate to speak, allowing the audience to find out a little about the woman behind the performer.

“It’s such a winner. People just love it,” Cate said.

The performer list includes The Sunset Collective, Maggie Jackson, Lauren Lee Williams, Angela Mitten from So Much Soul, Catherine Koerner, The Blenders, Mandy Connell, and Wendy Phyper from the Cartwheels.

The evening will be filmed and shared on Open Mic Castlemaine Facebook page by Scott Sanders and Robbie Noakes.

Tickets are $20/15 concession and are available from Eventbrite and Northern Arts Hotel Facebook page.

Doors open at 6.30pm with the show starting at 7pm sharp!
