About 130 people and local MP Mary-Anne Thomas turned out to the Old Kyneton Primary School on Saturday for a performance by didgeridoo player Amos Roach and the Yepengna dancers for the OKPS Activations Launch.
A Welcome to Country was also performed by Taungurung Elder Aunty Joanne.
The event was the first in a series of community focused activities that aim to open up the much-loved site to the community while construction works continue on the heritage bluestone building.
This Early Activation Program is delivered by prospective site managers Working Heritage and supported by the Labor Government through Creative Victoria.
Local community groups, artists and musicians are being invited to be part of the program, which will run from October through to March 2024.
November and December dates are now confirmed with activations on November 4 and 18 focusing on activities for young people and their families and events on December 2 and 16 celebrating the theme ’Radio GaGa’ including radio workshops, choir singalongs and Christmas-themed crafternoon.
