Tickets to Castlemaine’s annual talent contest Castlemaine Idyll at Lot 19 Arts Space are now live!

Be sure to snap up your tix to this highly anticipated local event that celebrates local singers, live music and famous judges.

The family inclusive event on Saturday March 23 features food, fun and talent for miles. This annual event is like a cross between a reality TV show, a high school eisteddfod, and the best karaoke night of your life. Local hopefuls apply to sing a song in front of the adoring crowd, but unlike a shoddy karaoke bar in the city, these crooners will be backed by a professional band with a killer horn section and sensational backing singers.

Tickets are now on sale at Idyll has sold out well in advance the last three years – so do not delay in grabbing your tickets.

This year’s event will feature 30 live performances, an extended running time (after-show DJs and dancing, anyone?!), guest judges, hot outfits, great catering and perfect weather (fingers crossed!).

Organisers are also introducing ‘Kids Karaoke’ on the small stage from 1.30pm, with details on how to register coming soon.

Lot 19’s Mark Anstey said Castlemaine Idyll was an uplifting, collaborative community event that brought joy and connection to a wide cross section of our community.

“Every year I am astounded by the talent of the people in our community and cannot wait to see who brings the goods this year!” he said.

“Idyll is also supported by a whole host of other community organisations and local businesses – we thank them all for their ongoing support. We’re pleased that MainFM will once again be broadcasting the event live on air.

“We’re also excited to announce two of the Idyll judges for 2024 – beloved broadcasters, writers and musicians, Casey Bennetto and Clare Bowditch, with a third judge to be announced soon.”

Castlemaine Idyll is held at Lot19, a non-profit community space in Langslow Street supporting the creative arts for the public benefit.

Keep an eye on the Castlemaine Idyll Facebook page or the Lot19 website for updates at

Clare Bowditch will be among this year’s celebrity judges.
