Autumn’s bounty is here

Simone from Oh! So Good Foods will be at the market.

Lancefield’s High Street offers a diverse and lively setting this Saturday with another round of farmers market action from 9am on the centre plantation.

Autumn’s bounty is here with crisp Harcourt apples and pears, root vegetables coming in from the Romsey and Daylesford regions, walnuts from Redesdale and fresh saffron being picked over in the Central Goldfields.

The market brings you meats and seafoods from eight different producers using organic and regenerative practices, traditional foods from Italian and Scottish heritage and value packs for families.

This month Oh! So Good Foods, produced by husband and wife team David and Simone, is making its market debut at Lancefield. They bring their carefully crafted range of breakfast products, dukkahs, ‘pruffles’ and more. The range is low in sugar, high in protein and uses all natural ingredients.

“Nature is the best creator,” says David, “So we like to let it shine.”

Also attending the market is Sarah Snider of Dreaming Goat Dairy at Chintin. Sarah brings an ever-popular range of goats cheeses made with her own goat herd’s milk and is filling the gap left by Holy Goat who have finished up their internationally acclaimed cheesemaking and are now focusing on re-wilding their Sutton Grange organic farm.

Garden lovers are well catered for this Saturday with many nursery folk in attendance bringing their pots of greenery for your patch including; indigenous natives, rare natives, conifers and other exotic plants, herbs, vegetable seedling, heritage fruit trees and more. Fowles Nursery of Whittlesea is making its market debut with a wide range of natives and cottage garden plants for gardeners to enjoy.

And three live performers from Lancefield-Romsey are returning to perform following the April market – Helen Keenan, Lucy Watson and Rexine Perry – you can find them in the seated lunch area at the east end of the market.

Lunch options include foods from many cultures; Greek, Turkish, Italian, Sri Lankan, Spanish and Chinese. Sweet treats, locally roasted coffee and tea blends.

Friendly dogs are welcome. Free face-paint for the kids. Open from 9am to 1pm, High Street, Lancefield.
