While less well known than its neighbours, Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock, the Deep Creek Valley in the Eastern Macedon Ranges produces an incredible depth and diversity of seasonal produce.
To celebrate this, a community of regenerative farmers and artisan producers from the region (Madelaine’s Eggs, Dreaming Goat Dairy, Wildwood Organics, Source Fungi, Tall Poppy Farm) are holding a ‘Paddock to Plate’ lunch on Sunday February 23 at Darraweit Valley Cider House.
A treat for food lovers, special guest chef Elise Pulbrook (Masterchef) will create a five-course menu showcasing the incredible local ingredients. Chef Elise is passionate about local food movements, community empowerment and working with beautiful produce and is looking forward to cooking a summer feast direct from the farmers… with the terroir in every bite.
Local producer Madelaine Scott of Madelaine’s Eggs says one of the things she is most excited about is that 95 per cent of the ingredients will have been produced within 20km of where the diners will be eating lunch – and they will be able to meet the producers.
“Often diners can meet the chef at a restaurant, but rarely the person who grew their food. At our event they can do both!” she says.
The lunch will also feature a DV Cider tasting, wine from Red Poppy Estate, a Producer Market and gift bag, live music from local singer Lucy Watson, and dancing into the evening.
