MAIN Game set to return

Those keen to pull on the boots for an annual MainFM community fundraiser enjoyed their first training hit out at the Sunken Oval recently. Judging by the fantastic turnout the event is once again set to be a stellar success.

Castlemaine’s highly anticipated and much-loved community event, the MAIN Game, returns to the Camp Reserve on Sunday June 8.

Featuring a footy friendly between the Rockatoos and the Radio Galahs, the event brings footy and fundraising together for local radio station 94.9 MainFM, which has long been a cornerstone of the community.

Both teams, composed of local radio presenters, tradies, musicians and respectable community members of all ages, genders and abilities, are excited to put on a show while raising vital funds to support MainFM’s programming and community efforts.

Event highlights will include the feature match, plenty of family fun with food stalls, the MAIN Bar, live music, and activities for the kids. The event is also dog-friendly.

The game will also be broadcast live on 94.9MainFM, allowing those who can’t attend to tune in for entertaining and informative live commentary.

The day will also feature live music with Castlemaine’s own brass band, Thompson’s Foundry Band, and a half-time set from new wave, post punk outfit Curlers.

MainFm sponsorship and events manager Sue McLennan said they were excited to bring the community together for such a unique event.

“Not only will this be a fun game of footy, but it’s also a fantastic way to show your support for MainFM, which plays such an important role in keeping us all connected and informed,” Sue said.

The Rockatoos side will be made up of local musicians, tradies, and members of the community ready to show their competitive spirit!

Opponents the Radio Galahs will feature a team of radio hosts and station staff, known for their charisma and friendly banter but keen to defend their winning streak!

MainFM has been serving the local community with music, news, specialist programs, and a platform for local voices since 2015. As a beloved local radio station, it continues to provide important content that fosters connection, inclusivity, and engagement within the community.
